rainy days

It's been awhile...a new/old friend of mine recently wrote a poem about the rain that has been omnipresent these last two weeks.

Solace in the Rain

The rain decorated

the nighttime pavement

with a glittering tango

of concentric circles.

Man-made lights shimmered

in their reflection off liquid mirrors

created by nature’s geometric drain.

Both rain and sorrow easily found refuge

along paths of least resistance,

down dark alleys

and through the clouded hearts

of the lonely people,

settling for solace

at lower ground.

Strange, like receiving a life raft

from the Gods

desperate souls revived

their drowning spirits

by releasing their tears

into the moisture

of the nighttime air.

No one would ever know,

as rain and tears make love

in the darkness and

Mother Nature issued

a reminder with her morning sun:

that with Father Time

this, too, shall pass

…and no one would ever know.

(G- I hope you don't mind, but you deserved to be "published.")
