Looong weekend...
Easter weekend has been a trip! As if I wasn’t having enough of a vacation, we got Thursday and Friday off to celebrate Pascuas. The best part was that everyone fled the city so it took on a tranquil and sleepy quality that I’ve never experienced in Buenos Aires. I spent time with Caitlin (my roommate), trying to keep up with Abe on Anna Karenina, and studying (I swear!)
On Saturday Gretel invited me to go to her brother-in-law’s country house for the day. We ate pizza from the parilla (grill) and I played with Gret’s nephews- ages 1, 3, and 5 and her niece- age 2. The kids were almost freakishly beautiful and full of energy.
On Sunday I went to Mass with Caitlin and then to Gretel’s for her family’s Easter dinner. This time, not only were the kids there in full-force, they were loaded with sugar and ready to tear the place down! F-U-N. We played Carioca, my favorite card game and I left just in time to make it to another dinner at my friend Amanda’s. What a crazy mix of people…including a guy from Ohio who was forced to listen to me ramble on about my Super Bowl Adventures in Dayton.

Hostelling International!
It's been a hectic three weeks since the Austin invasion and my roommate is confused as to whether we are students or running a hostel...it was fun to have everyone here and we have heather's air mattress, aurelien's gifts to our kitchen supply, and abe's boxers as good souvenirs of their time here! Instead of going into the yadda yadda of all that's happened since my arrival, I figured I'd just post a bunch of pics to summarize.
It's great living in a Catholic country during Easter...besides lent being over (can anyone say chocolate amargo con coco helado...ELLIE!) we have a huge break from school...I plan on doing tons of yoga, reading Anna Karenina (SO GOOD), making homemade soup and exploring my new neighborhood with my roommate.
Maybe I'll even get a chance to do some school work?
Happy Birthday Abe George ;)
A Motley Crew
Here's a pic of some "randoms" we met at our Estancia. The two elderly women were from England and one of them had quite the crush on Abe/Pinche...
El Tigre
We spent a day at this little river community, eating and relaxing. Abe played pick-up soccer with some kids and got a 10 peso massage...
Okay sisters...maybe I am on the phone too much
